PROJECTS
OVERVIEW
COREworks envisions a thriving world for all. To get there, our goal is to accelerate the pace of implementing climate-friendly projects for Rockbridge County, Virginia.
The COREworks marketplace supports four project pathways that prevent, reduce, or sequester greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. These pathways strengthen our community’s capacity to increase solar, plant more trees, divert food waste, and reward farmers for regenerative agricultural practices.
PROCESS
COREworks solicits, reviews, and funds projects that meet the COREworks Standards of Integrity. Projects listed in the COREworks marketplace must be up and running at time of listing and able to quantify the offsets they generate.

As a best practice, all marketplace projects must also pass a double-verification review prior to listing. COREworks staff first internally assess the project’s detailed application. Once this review determines the project meets COREworks standards, the project undergoes an external review. This second review is conducted by a pro-bono panel of community leaders and experts. To ensure high quality, all projects listed in the COREworks marketplace have passed both internal and external reviews.
PRODUCT
COREworks projects generate two kinds of good: ecological good and social good. We quantify the environmental good through the emission-reducing offsets generated by each project, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Climate-friendly projects like ours also benefit soil, water, and wildlife in myriad intersecting ways.

Significantly, our listed projects also include intentional features that promote a healthier, more just, and environmentally literate community. As we see it, a thriving world depends on the people who create it -- and that includes us all. You’ll find details of each project’s unique community-strengthening strategies in its marketplace description.
INVENTORY
As a new innovation, COREworks is still building its inventory. Marketplace listings will increase as donations generate the capital for launching them. That’s where you come in! Support COREworks with a ton-for-ton or direct impact donation and help accelerate the roll-out of additional climate-friendly projects for Rockbridge County.
